Welcome to the Friendship Market

Do you like supporting amateur sports around the world?  Do you also like collecting unique, hard-to-come-by sports apparel and memorabilia?  If you answered yes to both of those questions, the Friendship Market is your dream come true!  We bring to you jerseys, t-shirts, hoodies and more from some of the world’s most exotic teams and organizations.  Better yet, each purchase provides financial support for amateur sport and social development initiatives around the world.

How does it work?

The HIFL partners with local sports teams and associations who are in need of financial support to enhance their impact.  We work with these local groups to design merchandise, advertise products, facilitate manufacturing, and coordinate payment and distribution.  Manufacturing, shipping and administrative costs are then deducted from the purchase total, with the remaining funds donated to support sports and social development projects.  In other words, not only are you getting merchandise that is sure to turn heads at your local bar, but you’re also helping support meaningful projects and initiatives around the world.  How awesome is that?

KENYAN PROGRAM

Kenya Ice Lions – Supporting the Growth of Ice Hockey in Africa

Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of a push.  East Africa’s first ice rink opened at the Panari Sky Centre in Nairobi, Kenya in 2005.  Yet it wasn’t until a 2018 Tim Horton’s commercial that the Kenya Ice Lions fully made their presence known.  Canada’s favorite coffee chain flew 12 members of the team to Toronto for a game with NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon.  The event was immortalized in a documentary titled “The Away Game”, and has resulted in a surge of interest in the sport amongst Nairobi’s youth.  If momentum continues, Kenya will soon be an African hockey powerhouse, but they need your help to get there!  If you think equipment and ice time is expensive in Canada, imagine the situation in Kenya, where there is only one rink and not a single store selling hockey gear.

What will funds be used for?

Funding will be allocated based on need as determined by the Kenya Ice Lions, current priorities include:

  1. Ice time
  2. Equipment
  3. Training materials
  4. Nutritional support for youth players
